BLACKJACK ATLANTIC CITY Gambling Heats Up as NJ Casinos Offer Game

Atlantic City casinos are gearing up for Blackjack as the game becomes more popular with New Jersey residents.

The Borgata Casino in Atlantic City is offering a Blackjack table with a $5 minimum bet – the lowest in the city.

"This new Blackjack table has generated a great deal of excitement with our guests," said Joe Lupo, senior vice president of operations for the casino.

The Resorts Casino is also getting into the act, offering a $10 minimum bet at its Blackjack table.

Blackjack has been growing in popularity since New Jersey legalized gambling in 2013. In December 2014, Blackjack accounted for 15 percent of all casino gambling revenue in New Jersey, up from 12 percent a year earlier.

Analysts say that growth is likely to continue as more people learn about the game and its relatively low stakes.

"It's something that's easy to understand and doesn't have too high of a risk," said David Schwartz, director of the Center for Gaming Research at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

For some, there's nothing more thrilling than the sound of crisp casino chips being stacked and shuffled on a green felt table. The sights and sounds of blackjack games in Atlantic City are drawing bigger crowds than ever.

Part of the allure may be the availability of new types of games, such as blackjack variants that offer big payouts for specific hands. But the excitement is also generated by what seems to be a resurgence in the city's casino industry.

"Atlantic City is alive again," says longtime player Lou DiMarco of Philadelphia.

The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa is enjoying a particularly strong run, thanks in part to its popular new Tycoons game. At Caesars Entertainment properties, where blackjack has traditionally been king, CEO Mark Frissora says table game volume is up significantly this year over last. "We're up almost 20 percent at the $25 level and almost 30 percent at the $100 level in terms of handle, so that tells you that people are coming back to play table games," he said recently on an earnings call.

BLACKJACK ATLANTIC CITY Proving Popular with NJ Casino Gamblers

Atlantic City, NJ - When casino gambling was reintroduced to New Jersey in 2013, Blackjack quickly became one of the most popular games with players. In the first full year of operation, NJ online casinos generated over $100 million in revenue from Blackjack play. This game continues to be a major draw for casino goers in New Jersey.

The popularity of Blackjack is not just limited to the Atlantic City casinos. The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reported that in September 2017, online Blackjack accounted for $11 million in gross revenue, which was 34% of all online casino gaming revenue that month.

One reason for the popularity of Blackjack is that it is a relatively easy game to learn how to play. Players can generally figure out the basic strategy relatively quickly and start enjoying the gameplay. There are also many different variants of Blackjack available so players can find a version that suits their taste.

BLACKJACK ATLANTIC CITY The Fastest Growing Game at New Jersey's Casinos

In recent years, blackjack has become the fastest growing table game in New Jersey's casinos. Revenue from blackjack has increased by more than $100 million since 2013, accounting for nearly one-third of all table game revenue.

Unlike slots, which are based on luck, blackjack is a skill-based game that can be beaten with proper strategy. This has made it a popular choice among casino players, who can improve their odds of winning by playing smart.

Blackjack is also a relatively fast game, with most hands lasting less than a minute. This makes it an ideal option for players who want to get in and out of the casino quickly.

There are a number of different variations of blackjack available at New Jersey's casinos, including double deck and six deck games. Most casinos offer both shoe and dealt games, giving players a variety of options to choose from.
